God is a God of beginnings.
His desire is to be the foundation of our lives. When God isn’t our firm foundation, then the rest of our life is on shifting sand and headed for collapse. (Matthew 7:24-27)
It has been my experience that when I try and put anything else as my foundation, chaos ensues. Also, when I try and build on top of my foundation with any lies or sin, they are wobbly and destined for ruin.
When we come to know Christ as our Lord and Savior there is a new beginning and simultaneously an ending of our old self.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
As we walk through life with God, inevitably, our humanity sometimes takes the driver’s seat. It’s during these times that we add junk, such as sin and lies, to our foundation.
The Junk Has Got to Go
God knows that our best is not to have junk piled up. The junk has to go if we are going to live our best lives.
At the start of our faith journey, our old self and our old junk has got to go. God cleans house and starts anew when we come to Him.
Even as we continue to walk out our faith journey and we allow new or old junk back into our lives, sometimes God has to clean house again.
Although necessary, the cleaning process is usually painful.
Sometimes we don’t even realize that God is cleaning house. Our human brains usually don’t make the connection that a new beginning is around the corner until we experience the ending of the former things.
That’s the thing about beginnings, beginnings always result in the ending of something else.
The painful part of beginnings is the ending of the former things.
The ending of the former things is the process of God cleaning house.
Major Cleaning House
Does anyone else feel like God is doing some major cleaning house right now?
Look around at the pain surrounding us…
- The health of our world is at the forefront of our televisions, social media, and minds. We are searching for a cure and hoping for healing.
- From racial oppression to child exploitation, the need for justice is all around us.
- Political debates have turned into families and friends divided. No one seems to hold all the answers, but everyone seems to think that their answers are the only absolute truth.
Look around again and see the new beginnings…
- It’s the beginning of an awakening for the need of a healer.
- Only God can provide the true justice and healing that we need in our world.
- We need undisputable and unifying truth.
God is Moving and Working
I believe that God is the answer to our problems.
God often uses people to carry out His plan, healing, justice, and to be voices of truth. And, right now He is raising up people from all walks of life to carry out this new beginning.
Without the painful cleaning out of all of our junk, there would be no beginning.
Individually and collectively, God is cleaning house.
The painful present will bring forth many beginnings filled with healing.
Where there is wilderness/suffering and chaos…Where there is desert/ longing for something better…God is making a way out of the suffering and chaos…God is making rivers and life, where there was nothing.
They say the world will never be the same after 2020 and I couldn’t agree more.
This is the ending of a lot of things, and the beginning of so much more.
So, while we grieve this pain and the things were loosing as God cleans out the junk, don’t forget that goodness, life, and new beginnings are right around the corner.
